Cellars · Bara, Čerhov, Černochov, Malá Tŕňa, Slovenské Nové Mesto, Veľká Tŕňa, Viničky · Tokajská vínna cesta
A themed route linking the seven Slovak Tokaj villages, their tuff cellars, churches, family wineries and guesthouses.
The route is run by the Tokaj Wine Route association (Združenie Tokajská vínna cesta), which has its tourist information office in Čerhov. Most visitors plan two days to combine sightseeing with cellar tastings, and September, the harvest month, is the recommended time. Outside events, book tastings ahead: they typically last about 30 minutes in a cellar at about 10 °C, so bring a warm layer. If you plan to taste, leave the car behind, as Slovakia and Hungary both have zero tolerance for alcohol when driving, and take the train to Čerhov or Slovenské Nové Mesto.
