A 13th-century hilltop church with a lord's gallery and Romanesque murals, now used by the Reformed Church.
Cellars · Veľká Tŕňa · Areál historických tufových vínnych pivníc (Gazdovské pivnice)
A lane of farmhouse wine cellars dug into volcanic tuff, with 33 stone portals leading to more than 100 cellars still used by local growers.
The cellars of Veľká Tŕňa date back to the 15th century, and most still belong to families who make small amounts of wine in them; the whole area is a protected heritage site. There are no fixed opening hours: you can taste by arrangement with individual growers, or come when the cellar owners' association OZ Tokajské pivnice opens the cellars to the public at Tokaj Unplugged in June and Tokaj LIVE in late August. Several small wineries, including Víno Vdovjak, Víno Kapraľ and Vinárstvo u Koňa, have their cellars here. If you plan to taste, come by train or stay overnight: Slovakia has zero tolerance for alcohol when driving.
