The Hungarian border town directly opposite Slovenské Nové Mesto, with a Baroque town hall, historic churches and the Hungarian Calvary on the hill above.
Until 1920 Slovenské Nové Mesto was a suburb of Sátoraljaújhely, and the two towns still face each other across the border. In the centre you can see the Baroque town hall, the Piarist church and St Stephen's church, the so-called Wine Church, the Waldbott palace and the tomb of Rabbi Moses Teitelbaum. On the hill above town, the Hungarian Calvary has memorial stations for towns that became part of other countries after the Treaty of Trianon, and the Zemplén Adventure Park with its suspension bridge is about 2 km north of the centre.
